COVID

The health and wellness of our students, staff, and community are very important to us and we will continue to monitor this situation and provide information as it becomes available.

The district has preparedness and response plans which give guidance on how to manage such incidents within the K-12 school environment.

At this time, the same advice for preventing the flu applies to preventing the coronavirus, including:

  • If you are sick, please stay home to prevent the spread of disease
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Wash your hands frequently, for at least 20 seconds with soap
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Disinfect surfaces
  • Ensure that ill students are kept away from other students and are sent home as soon as possible
  • If you have a fever, shortness of breath or other symptoms that could be related to COVID-10 Contact a doctor and call the local health department at 316-321-3400.

The school district receives regular communication from the State Department of Education on this matter and will modify our practices accordingly. USD 402 has plans in place for potential pandemic crisis situations such as COVID-19 and the district is following the interim guidance provided by the state.

USD 402 has multiple hospital-grade disinfectant germ foggers which have been used after hours in our schools and buildings- these foggers are helpful in reducing repeat illness.

Please refer to the following resources from health officials on the matter as they are expected to be updated regularly:
