Enrollment Information
For New Students to the District
For middle school and high school students, please contact the AMS or AHS buildings directly (see home page tab "Our Schools") to enroll new students who live inside the school district (See bottom of this page for out-of-district attendance requests.).
For elementary placement, when new students move into the district, to enroll their student(s), parents need to contact Connie Hummel, Board of Education Clerk, at the District Office, 2345 Greyhound Drive, at 316-775-5484 or e-mail Connie. Connie will review the Optimal Class Size at each school to determine where the student will be placed. Below are guidelines for student placement:
- Parents may request placement of student in the building of their choice until a building is at the BOE approved Optimal Class Size for a grade level.
- The Optimal Class Size will not be exceeded in a building until all other buildings in the district have also met the Optimal Class Size
- Parents will be notified of student/teacher ratios, and the principal in charge of placement will try to encourage them to go to the school with the lowest numbers. Ultimately, however, the parent has the option to choose placement if a school is under the Optimal Class Size.
- Siblings will be enrolled in the same building unless a parent requests that they be separated.
- We will try to accommodate parent requests as often as possible. If parents have to enroll their child(ren) in a school that is not their first choice, they will be reminded that they can go through the open enrollment process in the spring to ask for a transfer to their preferred building.
