Above, Mrs. Bristow works with a student on vowel sounds during "center time" in her first grade classroom at Garfield Elementary. There are now 4 elementary finalists and 4 secondary finalists for Kansas Teacher of the Year. The Kansas Teacher of the Year banquet to announce the winner was Saturday, November 17, in Wichita, and Jeri Powers from DeSoto Public Schools received the top award. The AHS Drum Line was the featured performance at 7:00 ahead of naming the Teacher of the Year! To receive recognition as Region 4 Kansas Teacher of the Year Finalist, Mrs. Bristow was first nominated to represent her building. She was then named to represent our district as USD 402 District Elementary Teacher of the Year. Photo by Deb Kroeker

Congratulations to our 2008 Teachers of the Year!
Nominations were collected from across the community and then considered by the Teacher of the Year committee. The committee selected one teacher from each building, and then from those nominees an elementary and secondary District Teacher of the Year were named. These two teachers will represent our district as our nominees for 2008 Kansas Teacher of the Year.
