Technology Needs Assessments

Currently, we are giving Needs Assessment twice annually to all district staff. Urgent needs are submitted any time by employees to the Technology Integration Specialist. These requests are prioritized by the Technology Integration Specialist and then scheduled for training. The District Technology Committee is represented by all stakeholder groups, and represented by each building in our district. Based on these stakeholders’ recommendations, this committee builds the district’s Technology Strategic Plan, updates it annually, and submits it to the board of education for approval. Additionally, a hardware and software survey was distributed to all staff members asking for their additional hardware and software needs to integrate technology into all their curriculum areas.
Survey: USD 402 Needs Assessment Results for Survey have a possible range of 0 to 4

We have begun Tech Tuesdays Training, open to all staff in the district, after school each Tuesday. We are training technology assistants in each building. The tech assistants will be able to do job embedded staff development every year. We have a full time tech assistant who is also available to do job embedded staff development with teachers and administrators. We plan a technology academy of free staff development offerings each summer with college credit available. We have all staff take a technology survey pre-and post each year, with staff development in technology being a priority in our district, and accountability for staff growth from each building.
Enter your plan for curriculum integration assessment here:
With our technology standards in place, teachers are required to assess to the standards, and these measurements will record what outcomes are being met. Principals will assure that the outcomes are taught through the monitoring of the curriculum through walk-throughs and accountability measures for the outcomes. Staff will be required to take the technology survey as a pre/post test each year to show their own growth towards being able to teach and meet the standards for their students.

All teachers will be proficient in Word, Excel, multi-media, Internet research. Incentives include Professional Development Points for attending training, some staff stipends to attend training, and the availability of college credit for movement on the salary schedule; the classes are free for all employees. There will be major resources devoted to this area as the US Dept. of Education Reform grant is awarded which has been earmarked for our district in the amount of $250,000. We are also actively seeking grant funding in this area to be able to provide intensive staff development in technology. Staff will be assisted on the job through tech assistants at each building and the district tech assistant. Principals will all complete KAL TECH and serve as building instructional leaders in technology. We are developing an inventory of training materials to be housed at the central office to help staff learn various applications.

Exit surveys from the classes, and the technology survey results from staff will be tabulated and graphed to be shared with the Board of Education and all district stakeholders. Student achievement of technology outcomes will be assessed using on-line local district assessments as part of our Curriculum Strategic Plan.
