Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Members present:  Kimberly Ates, Jim Brown, Carolyn Carr, Eileen Dreiling, Jennifer Palmer, Christy Pray, Ben Slaton.

Eileen presented the council with the 2009-2010 BOE Success Plan.  A brief explanation of each goal was given.  A discussion followed.

Council members were given a copy of the 2010 Kansas State Assessment Testing Schedule.  A review of the schedule followed with an in-depth explanation of the testing procedure.

The 2009-2010 QPA Improvement Plan was viewed by the Council.  An explanation of smart goals for reading and math along with strategies and interventions were discussed.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.

Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 14, 2010.

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Members present:  Kimberly Ates, Eileen Dreiling, Kay Powell, Christy Pray, Ben Slaton, and Shane Steinkamp.

Eileen explained the MTSS program (Mult-Tiered System of Support) to the council.  The program involves system-wide practices to support a rapid response to academic and behavioral needs to help students achieve.  As this is the first year for MTSS, reading curriculum and instructional strategies are being targeted in the MTSS development at Augusta Middle School.  Questions and answers followed, along with positive comments from the council.

Budget items and issues were discussed.  Eileen asked for volunteers to be on a district parent budget committee to be lead by Mr. Lentz.  Kimberly Ates, Ben Slaton, and Shane Steinkamp volunteered and will be contacted by Mr. Lentz.

Ben Slaton led discussion on the 8th grade student laptops.  Positive comments about the program were noted.

Site Council Minutes
Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Members present:  Eileen Dreiling, Kimberly Ates, Christy Pray, and Ben Slaton.

Eileen Dreiling welcomed members and explained the purpose of a Site Council.

Eileen Dreiling presented a power point with the AYP results from the 2008-2009 school year.  AMS made AYP and great gains in the special education subgroup.

Augusta Middle School achieved The Standard of Excellence in 6, 7, and 8 grade reading and 7 grade math.  AMS also achieved The Standard of Excellence as a building in both reading and math. 

Parents asked questions regarding 8th grade 1:1 laptop initiative.  Questions were answered and discussion took place.

Agenda items for next meeting may be submitted to Eileen Dreiling prior to next meeting.

Next meeting is Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 6:00 p.m.
