USD 402 AHS School Improvement Plan
The school year 2007-2008 is our fifth year in the most recent NCA accreditation cycle (see NCA explanation below). The most recent accreditation visit took place November 6. All of the faculty of AHS as well as a panel of both community members and students participated in the visit. We received "exemplary" ratings in the areas of Vision & Purpose, Governance & Leadership, and Documenting and Using Results. The visiting team was amazed with the restructuring of our seminar program--how we are putting into practice the philosophy that "failure is not an option."
The visiting team's recommendations were (1) to continue to look at effective ways to use the block schedule to differentiate instruction and (2) to work to foster more communication with and among all stakeholder groups (specifically soliciting opinions and input from all stakeholders). A report will be due to them in two years detailing the actions we take to follow these recommendations.

About Accreditation through North Central Association (NCA)
| For many years now, Augusta High School has been nationally accredited through North Central Association (NCA), a global accreditation system overseeing 23,000 schools in 30 states and 65 countries. The program requires a five year cycle of profiling, school improvement initiatives in reading and mathematics, and data collection. At the end of each five year cycle, an independent review committee comprised of university professors and other school administrators trained in school improvement comes to the school, evaluates the plan and the results of the improvement initiatives, and grants accreditation if improvement is documented.
