Art Club
The focuses of the club are for art students and students interested in art to have a forum to discuss art issues, to promote the arts, set up art exhibits, and contribute to a permanent student art collection. A future goal is to set up an art scholarship for students wanting to continue their education in art. Sponsor: Audra Shelite

National Honor Society
In NHS, selected students learn the value of giving to others and being positive role models. The group works on projects in the school and community, including “Trick-or-Treat So Kids Can Eat” and the “Big Brothers-Big Sisters Bowl-a-thon.” The guiding principles of the group are leadership, scholarship, service, and character. Cheerleading
Cheerleaders display a positive and upbeat attitude at all times. Cheerleaders promote school spirit by controlling and leading the crowd at sporting events, making up cheers and chants, creating cheer/dance routines, decorating the school with spirit signs, and planning and participating in pep assemblies. Renaissance Club
Renaissance is a partnership between businesses and education. The goal of the club is to challenge AHS students to improve their academic achievement, school attendance, and contributions to our school and community. Students who meet certain standards receive a variety of kinds of recognition and rewards. Sponsor: Jeff Regier

Dance Team
The Dance Team performs jazz, modern, kick, funk and novelty routines in competition and for entertainment by invitation and at home athletic events. Members work to promote school spirit while developing their own sense responsibility, self-respect, character; teamwork and pride. Sponsor: Debbie Kelley

SADD
Students Against Destructive Decisions is one of the largest student organizations in our school. While the fight against drinking and driving remains the primary focus, students nationwide have begun to embrace a broader role in helping their peers counter negative peer pressure of all kinds. Debate
This activity is for students who enjoy research, logic, and analysis of a topic. Students work with their peers to prepare cases on a current topic determined at the state level. Debate is an excellent activity for people who want formal speaking experience or who plan to become lawyers and politicians. Sponsor: Tim Laner

Scholars' Bowl
People who enjoy Jeopardy usually enjoy Scholars' Bowl as well because of its competitive atmosphere. Scholars' Bowl is a fast-paced activity that helps students build a large knowledge base. Drama Club
The Augusta High School Drama Club currently has an active membership of nearly 40 actors and technicians and produces two theatre productions per year. Through participation in productions, students learn basic concepts in acting technique, vocal projection, theater history, and various technical aspects of theatrical production. Sponsor: Tim Laner

SkillsUSA develops positive attitudes, builds self-esteem through success, and encourage students to excel. Because we work hand-in-hand with business and industry, students develop the skills employers desire. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nationwide organization whose mission is to build leaders in families, careers and communities, addressing family relationships and violence, traffic safety, consumerism, health and civic responsibilities. Spanish Club
Spanish Club is dedicated to celebrating the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. One way that Spanish Club promotes the study of the Spanish language is by offering a scholarship each spring to a student who has been in high school Spanish classes and who plans to study Spanish at the university level. Forensics
This co-curricular activity is for students who enjoy acting or speaking. There are eight events available for competition, including Original Oration (persuasive), Extemporaneous Speaking, Informative Speaking, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Duet Acting, and Interpretation of Poetry and Prose. Student Council
Stuco is a group of student leaders who want to serve the school and the community by providing activities that can be fun and yet helpful. They organize the concession stands and Homecoming and Back-to-School dances, as well as charity drives and appreciation gifts for the faculty. Sponsor: Rebecca Timberlake

French Club
French Club is a social organization designed to give students an introduction to French cuisine and culture. We generally have three to four parties per year, including a crepe party in November and a Christmas party with fruit, cheese, fondue, and cider. We also have a Mardi Gras party in February or March and a picnic in the spring. Sponsor: Jennifer Bagby

Varsity Athletic Club
This club promotes athletic endeavors and sponsors community and school service projects as well as events such as all-school volleyball tournaments. Any student athlete or manager who has lettered in a varsity sport whose letter is awarded through the AHS athletic department is eligible for membership.

Instrumental Music
Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band play an important role in the school's identity, performing at sporting events, concerts and community functions. Our end-of-the-year Band-O-Rama is a long-standing tradition in the community. Affiliated with the marching band, the Colorguard incorporates dance, equipment and choreography into the marching band's performances. Director: Todd Hollis

Vocal Music
Concert Choir, Women's Choir, and Show Choir sing a variety of music, and individual members perform solos or participate in small ensembles. These groups perform frequently at the school and in the community and participate in the contest and festivals sponsored by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. Journalism
Yearbook and newspaper staff members develop skills in journalistic writing, layout, photography, advertising and technology. While learning to balance freedom of expression with legal and ethical responsibilties, these students gain valuable vocational experience in the career field of journalism. Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas is a class about entrepreneurship skills in which students learn through hands-on experiences. A highlight is Market Day, a chance for students to sell their product and learn about running their business. Scholarships are available and trips are awarded to students who excel in the class.
